It's not easy for the president, or the president-elect, to move around in a city. They can't just go out some place on their own. At the end of this video clip you see how the Secret Sevice and DC police have cleared the whole street in front of Ben's Chili Bowl so that Obama can safely get from the restaurant to his big, armored limousine. But listen to the crowd that's just outside the cleared area! Over 60% of the residents of DC are African American, and the neighborhood around U St and 14th has only started to rebound in the last few years from the devastating riots and fires that followed the assassination of Martin Luther King jr. in 1968. I think the people who live in the District are going to go nuts for Barack Obama.
